Dear Younger me,

 

Time Capsules must not have been invented yet. But, I wrote this letter and kept it in a Time Capsule to get it delivered to you on your 18th Birthday. You will start your graduation soon.

 

I decided to write this letter to share my learning. You may not agree with few of them. You may not understand them. It’s fine. However, to become a better version of yourself, you must follow them.

 

One. It’s okay to mess up. It’s okay to screw up. Life is not as hard as you think. But, as soon as you realize, take a step back and re- access the path. It’s never late.

 

Two. Sometimes, people go and don’t come back. Heartbreaks are an important part of life. It’ll teach you compassion. Move on. Nothing is permanent.

 

Three. Don’t get discouraged by rejections. It’s never late. Please understand- if that rejection was so important to you- then it’s your fault somewhere. Try to change. If not possible, then move on. You should never blame the person rejecting you.

 

Four. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what we want and what we are feeling. Take a break. Write down your situation on a paper. This will help you to find a way.

 

Five. You may experience fear. Life is too short to be ruled by fear. Take risks. It’s okay to fail.

 

Six. It's okay to stop trying. To give up. To say- maybe next time. Take care of your mental health.

 

Seven. Each one of us has limitations. Some of us are ready to accept it, some of us are not. Identify your limitations and ask for help. There are people out there to help you.

 

Eight. Be kind to everyone. You are privileged. Not everyone.

 

Nine. It’s okay to have some insecurities.  Everyone has. Don’t bother. Trust your instinct and the person. People are good. There is no such thing as good-bad or right-wrong. It is all about perspective.

 

This letter may come as a surprise to you. You may not understand this. That is fine. But, read this when you feel lost. This will help you.
